Em 1970, passou a integrar o corpo docente do Instituto de Filosofia e Ci\u00eancias Sociais da UFRJ e, em 1985, concluiu seu doutorado em Ci\u00eancia Pol\u00edtica pela Universidade de S\u00e3o Paulo (USP). Atuou como pesquisadora visitante na \u00c9cole des Hautes \u00c9tudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) em Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seus estudos focam temas como a escravid\u00e3o contempor\u00e2nea no meio rural brasileiro, analisando as condi\u00e7\u00f5es de trabalho an\u00e1logas \u00e0 escravid\u00e3o e as rela\u00e7\u00f5es entre trabalhadores rurais, pol\u00edticas agr\u00e1rias e o desenvolvimento sustent\u00e1vel, estabelecendo conex\u00f5es entre conflitos socioambientais e processos de desigualdade no campo.
